WISDOM, DEVOTION, ACHIEVEMENT
Nu Tau Nu Newsletter (first print issue)
Our first issue of the Nu Tau Nu Newsletter will be mailed to 333 sisters in time to arrive for Founders Day (October 15). Enclosed in the newsletter is a survey sheet. Please complete the survey questions and return by regular mail or e-mail to myself or Barb Ellis Kramer so we can begin planning for 2008. The cost to produce and mail our newsletter combined with the cost to renew our Squarespace website will reduce our treasury by $350.00, so joining or rejoining Nu Tau Nu is very important to our financial future.
Nu Tau Nu Charter Member Certificates
If you are a charter member of Nu Tau Nu and were not present at our 2007 Reunion to personally receive your certificate (deisgned and printed by Vickie Dodds Urban), it will be mailed to you along with a copy of the Nu Tau Nu Newsletter.
Were you initiated in 1958?
If you were initiated in 1958 you are entitlted to receive your 50 year pin. You may receive your pin through an alumnae chapter, directly from National Hdqts. or you may delay receipt of your 50 year pin until our 2008 Convention. I have been told by sisters who received their 50 year pin at a National Convention that this was a wonderful and overwhelming experience.
Nu Tau Nu Virtual Alumnae Chapter Newsletter
October 2007
Welcome to Nu Tau Nu Virtual Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega. The chapter was formed especially for Alpha Chi Omega sisters who are initiates of Gamma Lambda Chapter at Kent State University. As a virtual alumnae chapter we meet and communicate via e-mail and our website, www.axonutaunu.squarespace.com.
The purpose of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity, as stated in the Heritage of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity is: "to encourage the spirit of true sisterhood, to develop through personal effort a high moral and mental standard, and to advance the appreciation and practice of the fine arts among its members."
The purposes of this chapter are:
To represent and advance Alpha Chi Omega on the internet and in the virtual world.
To plan reunions, big and small.
To provide a forum for keeping in touch with each other.
To provide support to collegiate chapter(s) of our choice.
To provide a recruitment tool for our members who are in traditional alumnae chapters and on advisory boards to meet and encourage alumnae to be involved on a local level.
To locate lost Gamma Lambda sisters, maintain and distribute the Nu Tau Nu alumnae/friends directory.
To support the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation.
To observe Founder's Day and Hera Day.
To promote fine arts among our members.
To support victims of domestic violence
Installation of our virtual alumnae chapter
Nu Tau Nu was officially installed on June 3, 2006 at the Zeta Upsilon house on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. The lovely installation ceremony was conducted by Jennifer Diederich, National Vice President. Heather White, Province Alumnae Chairman, attended and her presence added to our enjoyment of this special occasion.
Judy Z. Phillips, Joyce Z. Robinson & Carolyn C. Freer represented all the dues-paying members of our virtual alumnae chapter. A special Alpha Chi thank you to the chapter advisors for Zeta Upsilon chapter who were also in attendance. If you are a charter member and did not receive your certificate at the reunion in Marblehead in July, your certificate is included in this mailing.
The officers of the chapter for 2007-2008 are:
Judy Ziegler Phillips, President (booksbulb@yahoo.com)Barbara Ellis Kramer, Secretary/Treasurer (bkflorida@hotmail.com)
We want to extend thanks to Vickie Dodds Urban who served as Treasurer of the chapter from its inception through July 2007 at which time she retired. Vickie, you have set an excellent standard for those who follow.
Chapter News
We have developed a roster of Gamma Lambda initiates which will be available to members of the chapter who would like it after November 15. It can be sent either as an email attachment (spreadsheet format) or in hard copy. If you would like the roster, please send your request with your dues. If you are requesting a hard copy, please include a stamped, self addressed envelope. The roster is for personal use only and the information contained therein must not be used for commercial purposes. If you would like to have your contact information deleted from this file, please let us know by November 10.
Included in this mailing is a survey regarding Nu Tau Nu. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey and include it with your dues. We will establish the direction of the chapter based on the feedback received.
Judy has come across an item we could sell at the National Convention Carnation Boutique. It is a carnation mounted on a magnetic clip that can be worn on the shoulder or elsewhere that a pin back might damage. She says the magnet is very strong. If we decide that we want to participate in the Carnation Boutique more information on cost and profit margin will be provided before a decision is made.
Don’t forget to celebrate/observe Founders’ Day, October 15 in a way that is meaningful to you. Get together with another sister, assist a victim of domestic violence, make a donation to the Foundation, interact with collegiate members.
